  10.  AB    After a brief discussion of the nature of the human immunodeficiency
  11.        virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) disease process
  12.        and its consequences, the article considers implications for the ear and
  13.        hearing. One of the newest etiologic considerations for audiologists is
  14.        pediatric autoimmune deficiency syndrome (PAIDS). Babies born to
  15.        HIV-AIDS-positive mothers, and children who have acquired the disease,
  16.        represent a new challenge to clinics. Symptoms, audiologic care, and
  17.        management are considered.
